We have dedicated children’s classes, whereby the emphasis is on mobility and learning the basics of Taekwon-Do in a fun environment.  As an integrated part of the junior students’ development, children will play games and learn basic exercises while gaining a fundamental understanding of Taekwon-Do.  The students are encouraged to develop at their own pace, with no pressure to take promotional gradings.

The programme helps students to be the best they can.  They are encouraged to use their body and mind to their fullest potential.  Using Taekwon-Do as the foundation of their development the curriculum specialises in the complete development as shown above.

All UK-Taekwon-Do instructors have attended a recognised child protection course run by the Association of Traditional Taekwon-Do and all have been CRB checked. Taekwon-Do is safe however we strongly recommend that you adopt our checklist before joining any club.

• Ask to see the Instructor’s Qualifications

A genuine instructor will not hesitate to show you their qualifications.  Remember you can verify qualifications issued by

• Professional Indemnity Insurance

An instructor should have professional indemnity insurance.  Ask to see it and check that it is valid.

• Child Protection Policy

Ask to see the clubs Child Protection Policy Statement.  Each group should also have an appointed Child Protection Officer.

• CRB Checked

Check to see if the Instructor has been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau.  The Association you are joining should be able to confirm if an instructor has been checked.  Be wary if the Instructor has not been checked and ask “why not?”.

• First Aid Qualification

It is essential.  Check to make sure the instructor is up-to-date.

• Before Leaving Children, Stay & Watch

If you are discouraged find another instructor.

• Code of Behaviour

Does the organisation have a written code of behaviour policy, if they do, ask to see it.

• Remember, You Are There To Learn

You should not receive humiliating punishments or be subjected to degrading comments.

• If You Feel Uneasy Talk To The Instructor

It may just be bad communication.  Be wary if the instructor becomes aggressive and will not talk to you.

• Finally, Remember Organisations Have A Responsibility To Be Open.

They should be warm and welcoming, ready to share information about themselves and their activities.
